During the 2026 spring training sessions, Detroit rookie call-up Max Clark came on the field with full war paint and blinged out like a Christmas tree only to commit two errors and slip on a rushed throw in the same inning, then swung ridiculously through a pitch on the next at bat. Afterward he ignored all criticism of his play and lack of humility, and instead played the victim when posting about his \"haters\". His defense was that the sun was in his eyes, he is new, and he has met lots of famous people who tell him he is great. Included in his poorly written rambling blocktext of awesomeness are incredible facts about the hardships he has faced, notably that he grew up in a two story house.\n\nThe meme that arose from this complete lack of awareness is, to quote Clark, \"They don\'t know how I was raised.\" followed by, \"I grew up in a two-story house.\" - replacing \"I\" with the new offending party.\n\nThis meme is used to point out a situation where someone who speaks a big game or presents themselves as a star, but their failures show the mismatch in their position or experience, especially when they do not own up to those shortcomings or who seem oblivious to how their behavior looks to others.\n\nAn example of this meme in action came two weeks later when the US Baseball Team, competing in the the World Baseball Classic, lost in group play to Italy because their manager thought they had already clenched advancement in the tournament, many of the athletes stayed out late partying, and the organization showed no sense of urgency until late in the game when it was finally pointed out to them that loosing this game could lead to their elimination. Those who criticized the coach or the team were met with \"They don\'t know how Team USA was raised.\" followed by, \"Team USA grew up in a two-story house.\" - often accompanied by a picture of Max Clark wearing excessive jewelry while dropping a baseball.
